Today, the Secretary of the Treasury and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that it will temporarily extend deadlines for certain estimated payments for importers suffering financial hardship due to COVID-19.

To be eligible for this payment deadline extension:

  • The importer’s operations must be fully or partially suspended during March and April 2020 due to governmental orders limiting commerce, travel & group meetings due to COVID-19

  • Gross receipts of the importer for March 13-31, 2020 and April 2020 must be less than 60% of the gross receipts for the same period in 2019

This payment extension does not apply to the majority of imported goods subject to:

  • Antidumping duties

  • Countervailing duties

  • Section 232 Duties

  • Section 201 Duties
