Pursuant to the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002, FDA established regulations requiring that all facilities engaged in manufacturing, processing, packing, or holding food for consumption in the United States register with the FDA and must also renew their registration with the FDA every even-numbered year. Food facilities must renew their registration between October 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. Failure to register or renew a registration can also expose facilities to civil or criminal action.
